Aug 7, 2019

Update 8/12/19: WAX has activated EOS v1.8.1. This documentation describes the WAX upgrade process for Guilds and Full Nodes from v1.5.2 to v1.8.1.

---

WAX is activating EOSIO version 1.8.1 on Monday, August 12 @ 17:30 UTC. By upgrading to v1.8.1, we have a safer and more efficient blockchain.

Due to breaking changes between v1.8.1 and previous versions, all node operators and WAX Guilds (block producers) are required to perform a series of steps to complete the system-wide upgrade to v1.8.1. Not doing so before the activation time of Aug 12 17:30 UTC will render your producer/full node unable to validate chain data and unusable post upgrade! Therefore, we strongly recommend performing this upgrade by this date.

This documentation describes the WAX upgrade process for Guilds and Full Nodes from v1.5.2 to v1.8.1.

Why did WAX upgrade to v1.8.1 before EOS?

Offering the benefits of v1.8.1 before other major chains upgrade is just one example of WAX taking the lead in blockchain technology. The WAX Service Layer, a full suite of blockchain-based tools and services that allow the community to build projects on WAX.
